To best address crime in Allentown, we must take a comprehensive approach.

Excellent outcomes in public safety are the result of many interconnected systems coming together and working properly.

As mayor, I will collaborate with leaders in our neighborhoods to ensure that they have the resources that they need to build the blocks that they want to live on. We’ll build organizational capacity in neighborhood groups, improve access to green space and ecosystem services, and invest in recreational opportunities for youth and seniors. We’ll engage our partners in healthcare and non-profit sectors to treat the disease of violence that has so many terrible symptoms.

Our Allentown Police Department - whose mission of ensuring public safety and quality of life extends beyond our historic definition of policing - will have my complete support as they work to improve their operations and deliver on their mission of ensuring safety and quality of life for citizens and visitors. That means being their partner as they engage with neighborhoods and community groups, improving the facilities that they use, building a career path for all, and doing everything in our power to deliver them home to their families, safe and secure at the end of a shift. They’re doing great work – often behind the scenes – and we can all do better together.

We’ll invest in our men and women of the Allentown Police Department to ensure that they have the training and tools necessary to build relationships with neighbors dedicated to living on safe, clean and healthy streets. Our excellent Chief Charles Roca understands the importance of community outreach and of employing technology to investigate and prevent crime. We need to explore innovative techniques to remove bad actors from our communities, and I will have APD’s back as they strive to do this.

Public safety is the responsibility of every department in the city. Public works play a role in designing safe streets, economic development attracts jobs that promote alternatives to crime, building inspectors identify unsafe living environments, our parks department cultivates environments that ease our nerves, the fire department runs programs that prevent deadly crises. And that just scratches the surface.

Our city government will work with residents and stakeholders across the city and region to achieve a safe, clean, and healthy Allentown. We’re all in this together.

Han hecho un buen trabajo y todos nosotros podemos ayudar en mejorar.

La seguridad es la responsabilidad de todos los departamentos de la ciudad. Obras publicas construye calles seguras, el desarrollo económico atrae empleos que promueven una alternativa al crimen, las inspecciones de viviendas identifican ambientes inseguros, el departamento de parques cultiva un sentimiento de paz, los bomberos manejan programas que evitan crisis mortales. Es solamente la superficie, y estoy entusiasmado hacer más como alcalde.

Nuestro gobierno trabajará con residentes y visitantes en toda la ciudad para lograr un Allentown limpia, sana, y segura. Somos todos involucrados.
